FUN FACT FRIDAYA Grandstand with a Grand HistoryThe current grandstand at the Vegreville Agricultural Society grounds has a rich history. Originally purchased in 1974 from Speedway Park in Edmonton, it stands as more than just a functional structure—it’s a lasting piece of Alberta’s motorsport heritage.Over the years, numerous repairs and upgrades have kept the grandstand safe and serviceable, including:➡Structural painting➡Concrete support repairs➡Installation of a new accessibility ramp➡Replacement of stairsThe most significant overhaul came in 2024, when the Vegreville Ag Society was awarded a $100,000 grant to replace the aging wood portion of the structure. In addition to the grant:💥VAS contributed $57,000 in cash💥 $50,000 was contributed through volunteer hours and in-kind donationsThis massive community-driven project ensures that the grandstand will continue to serve as a safe and iconic gathering place for years to come. ...
